Vocational Service, Director Alex Keatts (2012-13 Alex Keatts)

Vocational Service involves club members serving others through their professions and aspiring to high ethical standards.  Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations, and they inspire others in the process. 

Alec Hood Endowment, Chair Jay Jordan

  • Members:  Arlyn Kriegel, Paulina Salopek
  • The late Alec Hood provided in his will for a permanent fund to be administered by the Rotary Club of Las Cruces.  Earnings of the fund provide a scholarship to an engineering student from New Mexico.  The committee administers the endowment fund, and seeks and screens applicants for the scholarship. 

Four-Way Test, Chair Jim Parks

  • Four Way Test logoThe Four-Way Test committee promotes the use of the Rotary Four-Way Test by members in their businesses and professions and throughout the community.  One of the committee’s major activities, conducted with the other two Las Cruces clubs, is the Four-Way Test Essay Contest for eighth graders; winners receive scholarship awards and their essays compete in the district contest

Literacy, Chair Mark Santiago

  • Members: Walt Baker, Don Dresp, Kent Evans, Mary Ellen McKay, Howard Ness, Mel Parish, Earl Phillips
  • The literacy committee works to increase awareness of opportunities to support and encourage literacy organizations in the area and to educate members concerning literacy issues, both among youth and adults.
