New Generations Service

New Generations Service, Directors Barbara Law and Wanda Mattiace (2012-13 Barbara Law and Wanda Mattiace) 

New Generations Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities.  Because of their number and intensity, our new generations service committees report to two directors. 

Interact, Co-chairs Barbara Nelson and Wanda Mattiace

• Members: Gus Gandara, Gary Lenzo, Jim Maxon, Jake Redfearn
• The Interact committee coordinates our club’s support of Interact clubs at area high schools. 

Rotary Youth Exchange, Chair vacant

• The international youth exchange committee provides opportunities for high school students living in the greater Las Cruces area to spend a year as guests of Rotary clubs in other countries, and opportunities for students from other countries to spend a year in Las Cruces as guests of our club.  Rotary youth exchanges foster understanding of other cultures and international friendships.  Rotarians and non-Rotarians may serve as host families. 

RYLA, Chair Lyn Ames

• Members: Russell Allen, Ana Mangino, Barbara Nelson, Don Niewold, Mel Parish
• The RYLA committee organizes, promotes, and coordinates the Rotary Youth Leadership Award program for our club.  District-wide RYLA camps for high school junior boys and girls are held annually to recognize school and community leaders.  The committee works with the program from student selection through the camps and any follow up. 

Youth, Chair James Gerwels

•   Members: Tara Alexander, Kiel Hoffman, Keith Houser, Ana Mangino, Michele Murphy, Howard Ness, Mel Parish
• The youth committee develops an awareness of Rotary among high school seniors by hosting students from each high school at club meetings during the school year.  The committee also selects one of the monthly student representatives from each school to award a college scholarship.
